Handwoven and dyed with locally grown Lao indigo; traditional ikat diamond pattern produced by Tai Lue peoples living along the Mekong River. The traditional design for a skirt here is adapted for use as an upper body wrap. The serpent called a "naga" is represented in the ikat motif and is a protector. The special ikat diamond motif is used in the central panel.
